Arrived in Verona after a reasonably stress free journey from Lake Maggiore, trains mainly on time and no disruptions. Found our Airbnb hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived which was a bit annoying. To be fair the owner got things sorted out quite quickly so our inconvenience was limited. The accommodation is ok, nice balcony and bedroom space, but kitchen could do with an upgrade and the aircon doesn’t seem that effective, but there are a couple of fans.
First day we went on a guided walking tour, but being a Sunday, the bus we were hoping to catch into the city doesn’t run on Sundays, so we had to walk in 38 degree heat for about 35 minutes. Even though it was a very hot day the walking tour was well worth it. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and we picked up a few good tips to use on the next day.
Verona is a beautiful city on the eye and a pleasure to walk around the old streets, unchanged over centuries. History is everywhere, perhaps the prettiest city we’ve been to in Italy so far.
Day 2 we continued to see the sights and take it all in plus had a very nice lunch to finish our lovely little stay in Verona, a city I very much recommend.
