Our final say on our latest European trip and it’s a lovely way to finish. Airbnb is in a great location close to the center and all the action. Now that it’s late July we are heading into major busy holiday season, so we are noticing the crowds, increased by the number of cruise shops that arrive here, but it’s a beautiful city, especially the old town which has been created over the centuries. It basically has the walls of a Roman palace built in the 4th century, but inside the walls is a living, breathing town with roman ruins and different architecture from 12th century onwards.
We explored the beaches which are again mainly pebbly, or concrete platform areas, but the best beach in our opinion is Kasjuni, which can be reached by hopping on the number 12 bus at the end of the famous Riva promenade, 6 euros return, about a 15 minute ride.
We also took a bus to Omis, which is about a 45 minute ride south owards Dubrovnik. You will find sandy beaches here and a great wide river, with beautiful dramatic cliffs giving a great backdrop to the beaches.
