The journey from Rijeka to where we are staying on the island of Krk took just over an hour, and instead of the bus we were expecting a taxi picked us up from the bus station, which was a bit strange as I booked it on Omio, which we’ve used to book trains and buses so far on our journey’s around Europe. Anyway it meant we got dropped off right outside our property in a small town called Punat, a sleepy little place which hasn’t got a lot going on, plenty of restaurants, bars, a big harbour, campsites and a decent size supermarket. And not too far away there are some lovely little beaches and pebbly coves, so that’s pretty much what we’re going to be doing while we’re here for the next few days.
We did take a day out of our beach schedule to take a bus and visit the nearby town of Krk, much bigger than Punat, and a lot more going on. It is a charming town, very pleasing on the eye, so very much worth having a visit there.
