So next stop Cattolica is on the Adriatic coast not far from Rimini. Very much a more modern beach resort, very different to everywhere else we’ve been in Italy. Train journey here was again disrupted as one of our trains was cancelled meaning that we missed one of our connections, but only arrived about 1 hour late in the end.
Our airbnb is lovely, although it is a bit of a trek to the supermarket, (20 mins) and 40 to 50 mins to the beaches. Public transport is not very good here, but our host did provide 2 pushbikes, but we were a bit nervous about using these on unfamiliar roads, so we just walked everywhere.
There really isn’t much to do here apart from the beaches, so that’s what we did. The beaches here are long and sandy, but packed with sunbeds and umbrellas, only a couple of free areas to lay your towel on the sand. It is very touristy, almost feels like Italy’s version of Benidorm. Wouldn’t want to be here in peak summer season. Had a pleasant few days, but wouldn’t rush to come back.
