Zadar – Croatia

Next stop is Zadar on the mainland after our two island visits. Our airbnb is nice, good size and well equipped. Lidl supermarket not far away and the old town, marina and city beaches all within walking distance.

Day one we went to check out one of the city beaches, it was ok but not wow by any stretch. A storm blew in around midday so we took an early lunch and then by 2pm it had cleared away.

Day two was by far and away the highlight. We had prebooked a trip with Get Your Guide to the Plitvice national park. It really is a must see, it rivals anything we’ve seen on our retirement travels so far, so this is a must see recommendation, and hopefully the images below will help show you why.

Day three we went and checked out the city beaches on the other side of Zadar, very busy, everyone packed in like sardines. We found a reasonable space by walking towards the far end of the beach. Again not our type of beach scene, but the water was lovely as always. Going to get a bus and go further a field tomorrow.
