Found our accommodation easily, which is on the northern edge of the Prom, place called Sandy Point. It was a lovely spacious studio with an outdoor space including a BBQ. The owners Neil and Mary greeted us and were lovely people. They even offered to allow us to pick produce from their own garden for our cooking. Would certainly recommend this place for a stay in this part of Australia.
Day 1 we drove into the national park after taking a look at the local beach which is stunning. The park itself is vast and breathtaking with it’s scenery and absolutely gorgeous beaches. Here are some of the places we enjoyed.
On day 2 it was much hotter but quite cloudy too, so we started out having a walk/run along the sands of Waratah beach. What a place to do some exercise like that, it was brilliant. We then headed to a place called shallow inlet which is somewhere you can drive your car onto the beach, so we had some fun here, and enjoyed a spot of lunch before heading back to Waratah beach for swimming and sunbathing. Cooked up a lovely BBQ in the evening, eye fillet steak and lamb cutlets.
Last day in Wilsons Prom was cool and breezy so we went to do a walking trail along the back of Shallow inlet. Nice little walk but on the way we saw a snake, later it was identified as a Tiger snake, which spooked us a bit, about 6 foot long on the path just ahead of us. Also saw a lot less dangerous echidna and a decent size blue tongue lizard.
We then took a drive to a place called Agnes falls, a very scenic drive and a lovely waterfall feature at the end. Cooked up a nice chicken curry for tea.
Set off on our final road journey to Melbourne where we will be spending a month with my brother and sister in law Lisa, plus catching up with some old friends. Stopped in Kilcunda and San Remo on the way down, which were both lovely spots.
