India – Jaipur

So we’re at day 6 and travelled down to Jaipur today. On the way we stopped at Sikri fort and then Chaud Bori step well, a 10th century creation in amazing condition. The fort was also exceptional, probably more scenic and tranquil that the one yesterday in Agra.

The drive was also quite interesting as we went through various villages and towns witnessing Indians going about their daily lives, it is such a massively different way of life than we’re used to.

So day 7 was our last full sightseeing day for this part of our trip, seeing the sights of Jaipur, the pink city. Went to the Windy Palace, Amber Fort, Palace on the Lake, Royal Observatory and the City Palace where the royal family currently reside.

A busy day, highlights probably the fort and palace, although we had some good fun by the lake because today was the annual Kite Festival which is held to celebrate the end of winter, so lots of people dressing up, music, kites and fireworks later.

Day 8 our last day in Jaipur we went on a cooking class with a local Indian family in their home, and then joined them for a traditional Indian lunch. It was a lovely authentic experience, friendly people and we learned a few things to take home with us.

The Golden Triangle experience has been fantastic, and it was made extra special by our guide and driver Mr Dinesh of Shuk Tours India. We could not have been more satisfied with this wonderful man who became our friend over the 8 days we spent with him. We would highly recommend his services if you are considering any sort of tour to India, check out his website and reviews.

Mr Dinesh, our guide and driver who navigated us brilliantly across Indias crazy roads
