Our European adventure is going to take in 3 countries, France, Spain and Portugal. The intention is to complete the trip by train with just one flight between Marseille and Madrid. We’ll be away for 11 weeks, stopping in 15 different places, and using Airbnb for accommodation along the way.

Tavira final week
So we’re a few days away from the end of our 4 week stay in Tavira. It’s been absolutely fantastic, weather has been a little more mixed than previous times and definitely a consistent strong breeze most afternoons, but that aside it’s been perfecto. I highly recommend Tavira to anyone looking for a quiet, chilled…

Tavira update
So we’ve now been in Tavira for 2 weeks and it’s ticking all the boxes, although we’ve had a bit of unusually iffy weather for a couple of days here and there. We’ve enjoyed cooking plenty of meals in the apartment (see separate post under the food and stuff tab). Here’s some new images and…

Tavira so far
We are into day 4 of our Tavira chill out stop. No more packing our bags and setting off to a new destination for another 3 and a half weeks. Very nice to be back here, but the weather has been a bit dodgy for the last 2 days, so not been to the beach…

Tavira in Portugal
We’ve arrived in our third country on our European adventure, and after 3 weeks of culture, history and outstanding sights across 6 different cities it’s time for some R and R. Tavira is just the place for that; it’s one of our favourite places in the world, a lovely charming Portugese town with great weather,…

Cordoba final day
Last night we enjoyed a lovely meal out, but forgot to make a note of the restaurant so can’t make a recommendation unfortunately. Before that had a wander up to Plaza Corodella. a really big square with two arch gates at each end. A roman road used to pass through here apparently. Another day catching…

Cordoba
This European adventure just keeps on giving. We thought Granada was good, but Cordoba is something else. The most beautiful city with amazing history and amazing sights to see. The Mosque-Cathedral is the first stunning place, never seen anything like it, and makes you understand the history of war and hatred that has built over…

Alhambra in Granada
Went to a world heritage site today, and you can see why it’s a protected historical site. If you go to Granada then this will be on your number 1 of things to do. It’s a magnificent specimen of the existence of islamic civilisation in Spain in the 14th century. It’s not just the architecture…

Granada
Arrived in Granada yesterday (9th June). Starting to get warmer now, although some rain is forecast here in a couple of days. We’ve got a great little apartment in the centre of town with a rooftop terrace, which we’ve enjoyed sunbathing on today. Also had a good walk around and saw the historic churches and…

Madrid final day
Last night we ventured out for a tapas evening to a well known spot called Calle de la Cava Baja. It’s a street full of bars and tapas style food options. We went a little early, around 7pm, but it usually gets lively from 9pm. Enjoyed a little tapas crawl stopping at 4 different bars…

Madrid day 2
Went for our guided city walking tour today using Get Your Guide. You will find a link for this under the tips and ideas tab. A good 2 hours finding out a bit about Madrid’s history and key historic buildings. Also now know where the best tapas bars are located, so will be heading off…
