Biarritz & Anglet

Arrived in Anglet yesterday, a suburb of Biarritz. It’s about a 40 minute walk into the centre of Biarritz, which we did today. Very pleasant walk with great views of the coastline going south and north along the Atlantic ocean. Brilliant for surfing and an array of beach activities and sports taking place, which is fun to watch, like beach rugby for example.

The path into Biarritz continues along the beach and cliff tops with loads of wonderful views and a lovely little port with amazing looking restaurants, although it was a bit out of our price range. We did stop for a treat of fresh oysters and a glass of rose wine though. Here are some images of Biarritz from todays walk. Although the sun wasn’t out the scenery is still outstanding and Biarritz has got a very well to do feel to it, clearly a holiday destination for those where money is no object.

Day 2 of our stay in Biarritz we strolled up the road to find a little collection of shops and a great food market, albeit quite expensive. We made a mistake in buying 2 fish fillets which I assumed was something like sea bass, but must have something much rarer, because I was charged 40 euros for them – ouch!!. Anyway we cooked them up tonight and they were lovely.

Also went to play crazy golf but sadly it was closed so ended up relaxing on the beach, although another cloudy day, it was still pleasantly warm. Also went to a nice restaurant in Anglet for dinner which I would recommend. It’s called Les Platanes

Day 3 in Anglet was hot and sunny, so enjoyed a day on the beach watching the surf, soaking up the sun and enjoying the beautiful water and the waves.
