Our goal was always to try and retire as soon as possible after we both turn 60, which happened when I turned 60 in 2023.
We have both enjoyed careers in the financial services industry and have managed to get into a financial position where we can stop work and hopefully enjoy seeing some of the world properly, rather than just grabbing one or two week holidays, which is all you ever get to do while working.
Elaine and I got together in 2006 and married 7 years later in 2013, the same year that we both got made redundant from HSBC, so that was quite a year of change and celebration! We both have a passion for holidays, keeping fit and eating well, although we also have quite an appetite for wine. In our 17 year relationship we’ve enjoyed 55 holidays to 27 different countries around the world. The intention now is to visit places to see them properly for extended periods of time. The next decade is definitely one to be very excited about.
