Barwon Heads

We left Melbourne on the 17th Jan and headed for Barwon Heads via the ferry from Sorrento. Nice little journey, takes about 40 minutes to get to Queenscliff on the other side of the bay.

We had a little walk around the town of Queenscliff, which is very nice with lots of older style houses and buildings around the streets giving it some character. Then onwards to Barwon Heads to our airbnb. It’s a great busy little town with a lovely tidal river and of course the ocean beach as well. Our property is excellent, with the extra treat of a swimming pool we can use. It’s in a peaceful location on the outskirts of the town.

Day one weather was superb, although a strong wind made it impossible to enjoy the ocean beach, so we found a beach alongside the Barwon river. If you have kids or just don’t like strong waves this option alongside the river is perfect.
