Hepburn Springs

Had a little getaway from Melbourne to spend 3 nights in central Victoria at this great little property in Hepburn Springs near Daylesford. The area is renowned for it’s mineral springs, so is a sought after venue for spa breaks and chilling with nature.

We spent the first day exploring my old home town of Castlemaine where we emigrated to in 1976. Spent about 2 and a half years here before moving to Melbourne. It’s become quite a sought after place to live as it’s a much easier commute to Melbourne than it used to be. It was a great trip down memory lane for me, and really nice to see that the town has retained it’s old world charm.

We then took a drive back via Chewton to check out an old Aussie pub before heading back to Daylesford for a lake swim and then a fun night back at our Airbnb.

Day 2 was much cooler and wet in the morning. Brightened up a bit by lunchtime so we headed out to explore an old dormant volcano called Mount Franklin, and then a lovely country drive to explore an old town called Maldon.
