Vigo

After Porto it was a bus journey to Vigo, only there for 2 nights, so only one full day, so not able to give a comprehensive review of the place. The reason for going there was simply because it was too far to get from Porto to Burgos in one go, so it was a bit of a filler.

Arrived in the afternoon and had a walk about, weather a bit rubbish cool and raining, but it definitely felt like this was a proper spanish city, not just a typical tourist venue, although there are plenty of tourists there. It has a massive port, one of the most important in Europe, and the old town was a pleasure to walk around, small alleyways and paved areas, plazas and so on. Loads of nice shops, restaurants, bars to enjoy.

Basically the same picture the next day. Amazing what difference the sun can make!

As we didn’t have much time to research and see the main sights we decided to check out the beach life in Vigo for our only full day, so we got a taxi to Samil beach which was very nice. Taxi cost 14 euros, but managed to navigate back via a local bus for 3 euros, and we got off about 3 minutes walk from our apartment, what a result! Celebrated that achievement with a beer on the way back of course.

Overall I would say Vigo is definitely a place I recommend you could easily spend a few days in. Apart from the town beaches and historical sights there is also the Cies islands, which are about 45 mins away on a ferry. They look like great places to explore and enjoy.
