Porto

We’ve had our first full day in Porto, and what a beautiful city it is too! We went on a guided walking tour around the city with Felippe, pictured in the featured image of this post. We organised it through airbnb, I recommend doing this as it’s a great way to find your way around a city and get plenty of tips and ideas for the rest of your trip.

We saw some great sights and learned about some of Portos history. We also found a great food market, Bolhao, just around the corner from where we are staying. A fabulous array of produce, makes your mouth water. The quality of fresh food and how these countries present it puts England to shame to be honest.

Day 2 in Porto we decided to see what the beaches were like, set off in a Bolt taxi ride, only 6 euros with our 50% discount, but half way there we drove into a load of sea mist. We got dropped off at the beach but couldn’t even see the sea. Taxi driver says don’t worry it will clear in 20 minutes, well it didn’t. It tried to but more waves of mist kept rolling in, it wasn’t cold so we still tried to enjoy the beach for an hour or so. It actually looked like a really nice beach but the views were sadly very impaired. Ended up walking back towards Porto, stopped at a marina and had a couple of drinks and then managed to catch a bus back into the centre.
