South Goa

So we’ve finished our first retirement trip to South Goa and our stay in Colva. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to escape from the cold, wet and windy winter of the UK.

Colva was a great place to stay, really able to immerse yourself in some of the Indian way of life. Although primarily a beach area and famous for tourism, there are plenty of authentic Indian experiences you can observe and immerse yourself into.

The weather is guaranteed sunshine, miles of coastline to enjoy and the food is fabulous. The other really great thing to realise is that you get tremendous value for money. Over a month we enjoyed eating in and eating out, going on sight seeing trips, eating and drinking on the beach every day, enjoying using the local beach shacks (loads of them) sunbeds and umbrellas, buying fruit and veg from the local markets and topping up our fridge every day with bottles of wine, and guess how much we spent — on average just over £50 per day for both of us!

To put that in perspective we went for breakfast in Banstead the morning after we arrived home and spent £44 in 45 mins just like that.

The Goa experience has been fantastic and I highly recommend to anyone, some final images shared below, now onto the next trip, which will be a totally new experience. This one will be France, Spain and Portugal.
