So day 1 on Milos we walked down to the local supermarket and got some supplies for the next couple of days, water, wine, beer, gin, tonic and a bit of food of course. Then walked up into Plaka town for a look around, it’s a delightful hill top location, very pretty with great views. Then we jumped in our hire car and went to see what Achivadolimni beach was all about.
It’s quite a big beach for greek island standards, sunbed area and beach bar at one end and plenty of sand to yourself everywhere else. It was quite windy today but luckily we found space behind a couple of big rocks, which helped avoid being sandblasted all day. Home in the evening we cooked up a nice bolognese with some wholewheat penne pasta.
Day 2 we headed off first to the iconic Sarakiniko beach, which is like a lunar rock landscape. Unsurprisingly there were a lot of tourists there, but for good reason. Had a nice little stroll around, plenty of fab photo opportunities and then headed off to see what Firiplaka beach was all about on the south coast of the island. A very pretty and popular beach so we chilled with the masses for a few hours.

After our lovely day exploring we went up into Plaka in the evening to see what it was like at night. It’s a pretty buzzing place so would definitely recommend going up there to watch a sunset and enjoy a meal. We just had a cocktail this time but plan to go back up there for a meal on Friday evening.
Day 4 was another chance to explore another beach, this time it was Triades. This a remote beach on the west coast, and you need a 4 wheel drive car to get there, although the road isn’t too bad for most of the way, the last few hundred metres gets pretty steep and bumpy. Got down to the beach ok, but must admit I was feeling a bit nervous about getting back up. It is well worth the trip though because the beach is beautiful. It consists of 3 coves, we went to the second one and for most of the day we had it to ourselves, so we just enjoyed the sand, sea, sun and our picnic lunch which we enjoyed under the shade of a small overhanging cliff. I managed to get the car back up the slope later as well.

Day 5 we went back to Achivadolimni beach and day 6 we went back to Triades beach, and then had a meal up in PLaka and watched the sunset. The sunset was fantastic but the meal was disappointing. I would not recommend a restaurant called Archontoula.
On our last day we went to a new beach called Paleochori which was fantastic. I would strongly recommend you visit this place for the day, beautiful scenery, perfect water, beach bars and restaurants, great way to end our time on Milos.
